Learning to Cook Thai
I started to learn how to cook some Thai food today. They showed me ginger chicken. Unfortunatley, I'm not really sure I could make it in the U.S. because some of the ingredients they use here I have never seen in the U.S. Maybe I can learn to modify the recipes when I get back. Anyways, I am still looking for ideas on what to cook for them (american food). Any thoughts or suggestions would be great.

There is a very neat oriental market here that I've been able to find some very obscure stuff. They will somtimes make special orders for people too, but that means you have to buy in bulk. I love young coconuts, and thats the only place in CO I've found with them, and they also have many spices. So maybe. Good luck sounds fun.
Brainstomring american food: Tex-Mex, Cajun, Southern food, Chicago style hot-dogs, Philly Cheese Steak, Boston Clam Chowder, many foods with Corn.
How about wikipedia on American Food?
Cool, thanks. I will have to see what ingredients I can find here.
american chili. I have a good recipe for it. umm... any kind of stew would be good cause that's not in an oven. Grilled cheese ^.^ Cajun would be good because I think they like spicy. Could do some sort of cajun stir fry with rice. Jambalaya. Good call scott.
Barbecue chicken on the "grill" mashed potatoes and corn on the cob. Can't get more down home than that ^.^ Of course you have to be able to get all that.
Pancakes and eggs and bacon and hash browns. Nothing saying you can't teach them breakfast. biscuits and gravy?
Stews, chili (from my previous post in case you don't go back and check). Almost anything grilled. Kabobs? pan fried trout?
Yay! thanks for the help. The american cooking session has been delayed but as soon as I go shopping for it I will take all your suggestions into consideration.
